Meet Mitra

Mitra Subedi was born in Bhutan , a small country located near the Himalaya mountains. He grew up in an extended family in a Bhutanese Refugee Camp in Nepal. At the age of 26 years old Mitra came to the United States and to Louisville in 2011. He is married and has 2 children.

Experience

Mitra is a bilingual instructor and teacher with the Jefferson County Schools teaching at Fern Creek High School. Mitra’s skills include legislative advocacy, community outreach and engagement, policy analysis and development and well as interpretation.

Mitra’s volunteer experience beyond school activities included volunteering with the Bhutanese Society of Kentucky as executive director since 2014. He also devotes his time as a medical interpreter.

Mitra is committed to not only listen to the his constituents of House District 30 but represent them while being a champion for public education, workplace safety, workers rights, economic development, reproductive freedom and environmental sustainability.

With Representative Tom Burch gone from the House, the citizens of District 30 need a voice that will be courageous and vocal on their behalf, not self serving or controlled by Republicans.


Education

Mitra came to the United States having earned a Master’s degree in Mathematics  from historic Tribhuvan University, in Kathmandu, Nepal. He has also received his teaching certificate in Mathematics.
